Hey everyone! We have some great news to share about Zev’s recent emergency surgery and the results we have been waiting to receive. He went back to the vet today to have his bandages changed for the first time, and we found out that the biopsy results revealed that the mass removed from his leg was benign. Dr. Troob’s suspicions were confirmed: the mass was an infected subcutaneous cyst, rather than a mast cell tumor or something like that. He is confident that he will heal quickly and be good as new soon, and should not have any issues with the surgery site in the future. The wound is looking good but we are to keep it covered still, and Zev goes back to the vet on Monday to have the bandages changed again.
The first day or so after the surgery he was really uncomfortable and lethargic. Poor guy could get around decently with his gimpy leg, but we had to help him up the stairs and onto the couches so he didn’t strain himself too much or trip on his bandaged leg. By Wednesday, though, he was starting to feel like himself again, and today he is looking and feeling great. Right now he is sitting on the couch with our friend Kenny, drooling on him as he eats some chips. Typical Zev. He is one tough cookie!
We are so relieved that the results came back benign. We want him to enjoy the rest of his days romping the beaches and jungles of Hawaii!
While Zev continues to recover and take it easy, Lexi heads to another vet tomorrow! She has her follow-up appointment with Dr. Tapp tomorrow afternoon, and I am looking forward to talking with her and seeing what she has to say about the state of Lexi’s allergies. After that, I hope we don’t have to see a vet for quite some time. I like our vets and all, but I think we’ve had enough for one week!
We hope you all have a good night, and happy Friday tomorrow!
Hugs and kisses from Lexi and Zev!
